Historic Garden Conservation - Course Complete!

Final A1 Pin Ups,
which were supported by the body of work presented in an A3 booklet.
Mostly for the perspective images using watercolour to achieve a sense of atmosphere.

The colour can be overlaid in a way which doesn't detract from the line work.

Particularly happy with the tropical images as the colour conveys a feeling of humidity.

Quick Tasks No.5 cont.

Next job, to print copies and trace over. Then to scan back in and render in Photoshop
Note, which way is up when scanning!

The Finished Article!
Pretty happy with this as a first go, took around 4 hours from start to finish....
More time would produce better results and time to play with leaf brushes, shadows etc.

Quick Tasks No.5

A simple model constructed in sketch up using dimensions given in the brief....
First, an Axonometric view
Next, an Isometric view
Next job, to generate three perspective views...

Less Literal Design Development

After the interim crit I realised that my design was almost entirely made up from looking at shapes and forms associated with music and instruments.
I did a quick mind map to come up with some words associated with music which i could then look to take abstract ideas from

The small image with the person on a bench shows the land form, rather than simply being flat, shaped to resemble undulating waves.

Also a few ideas to make the space more interactive and fun

Update on my Metis 2013 submission
Design development, working on the musical idea.. I've added in a few more elements to create a more interesting space. Its all a bit literal at the moment though, I think I need to slip in a few abstract references.

One of last years projects

Looking back over last years work it seems the Ideas and Theories course brought out the best work in me..... Not for the art work but for the concept and how it was delivered through design.

And I certainly learnt not to colour under poor light at 3 in the morning...! looks completely different in the light of day! So glad I have saved copies before they were coloured.
